Setting up Star mPOP (Bluetooth) for iPad on Precision Systems
Important
Updating to iOS 14+ on iPad will ask you to grant the Precision Systems application the authorizations to access the Bluetooth and local network settings on your iPad.
If you refuse, your printer will stop working. To resolve this issue, make sure Bluetooth and LAN permissions are enabled in Settings -> Sales Register on your device.
This guide provides step-by-step instructions on how to install a Star mPOP Bluetooth receipt printer and cash drawer combination for the Precision Systems iPad app
Device Checklist:
To set up your mPOP device with your iPad, you must first ensure that you have all the necessary peripherals.
Cables:
Because the mPOP is Bluetooth, it requires no cables to connect it to your iPad. The only cable you will need for your printer is the power cable. If you are using the Star mPOP scanner with your mPOP unit, you will need to connect it via the included USB cable.
Receipt Rolls:
Make sure your 58mm receipt rolls are ready to use. To load your receipt roll, press the left front of the mPOP and remove the receipt feeder.
Note:
The scanner provided with your Star mPop unit will only work in iOS mode and on the sales screen. You cannot use this scanner to manually add barcode numbers in other parts of the Precision Systems app.
1. Connect your mPOP device to your iPad:
First, turn on your mPOP device. You will find the power switch on the front left side of the machine.
Once you have turned on your mPOP, you need to connect it to your iPad in the Bluetooth settings. To do this:
1. Open the Settings app on your iPad.
2. Tap the "Bluetooth" option in the left sidebar.
3. Make sure Bluetooth is turned on.
Tip: The Bluetooth slider should be green and tilted to the right. If the slider is on the left and gray, tap again to make sure Bluetooth is on.
4. In the Bluetooth "Devices" list, tap "Star mPOP".
An icon should appear next to the device to confirm that it is connected.
Note:
Your printer must be in pairing mode or it will not pair with your iPad. If the message "Pairing Unsuccessful" appears, hold down the PAIR button on the printer for 5 seconds and try again.
2. Add your mPOP device to the Precision Systems app:
1. Open the Precision Systems application and tap the Settings icon in the menu bar at the top of your screen.
2. From the sidebar on the right side of your screen, select "Printer".
> "Add a printer" to generate the "add a printer" form:
3. Give your printer a name so that you can easily recognize it if you have several, e.g. "Main printer", select its make and model and then press "Find", the Precision Systems application will find your printer and connect to it.
Then choose an automatic printout of the receipt after each sale by activating the button "Automatically print receipt at the end of the sale".
For an automatic opening of the cash drawer, connect to the cash drawer by activating the "Activate Cash Drawer" button.
If you are a printer, press the "Print test receipt" button to check that the connection has been established correctly.
Make a test sale to ensure your setup is successful. Don't forget to cancel the test sale after your receipt is printed!
After that you can go back to your business and run your business.
